New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday gave it's verdict in the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple case and said the vault B of the temple will not be opened till an integrated and multi-layered security cover is provided.
The apex court also said they are satisfied with the State Government's assurance to provide security cover for the temple.
"The expert committee should go ahead with the preservation and conservation of other vaults, " said the Supreme Court.
Jewelery and gold worth over Rs 1 lakh crore was found in in the five vaults that were opened earlier.
The Travancore royal family was against opening of the vault and had claimed that the treasure belongs to the gods.
Meanwhile, reacting to the decision of the apex court, Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani said that the state government was happy to get the appreciation.
"We are happy that the Supreme Court has appreciated the steps taken by the state government because we will do everything possible," he said.
Meanwhile, the royal family termed it as a temporary breather, reiterating that they did not want the vault to be opened.
"It's a temporary breather for us. Whatever the Supreme Court decides we will accept it but we just request the court to show some sensitivity to religious beliefs."
"We think that law and religion are not contradictory, they are complimentary, but what is required is a little bit of sensitivity. Right now we are a bit relieved we are not totally laid back also because we don't want the vault to be opened. The religious value of devaprasnam should be regarded," said that royal family.
