Somy blames her break up on Aishwarya

Somy speaks
Somy Ali has moved on, but in a recent interview she has spilled the beans on her break up with her first love Salman Khan.  According to Times of India, Somy points fingers at Aishwarya Rai for coming between herself and Salman. But she doesn't blame either. She says, "Neither. They both did what they felt and believed was the right thing to do at that point in time. I don't like to hold grudges. It will only affect my growth as a person."

Nudity v/s Aesthetics: To show or not to show

In the wake of Ketan Mehta's RANG RASIYA winning the Audience Prize at the London Indian Film Festival, the issue of nudity in cinema surfaces once again. Made in 2008, the film is yet to be released in India reflecting the ambivalent attitude of the Censor Board towards nudity in films.
Clothing did not evolve merely to mask a particular part of the body. Across the international spectrum, there are conspicuous inconsistencies about which parts of the body people elect to cover, if they choose any part at all. In some places, the feet are to be covered for the sake of modesty. In other places, women's lips are believed to be so seductive that wearing veils in public is imperative.
Everywhere, customs and traditions symbolically confirm human uniqueness in the biological world. Some maintain this dichotomy by equating public nudity with bestiality. But things are changing. Over the last 10 years, the Indian audience, specially the Y generation, has developed a liberal approach towards body display in films, though not so much on television except on the news channels that generously display clippings from Indian films with partially clothed men and women. But public display of the human form with minimum or no clothing still evokes disgust and ridicule making viewers feel uncomfortable.

No clean chit yet to any politician in cash-for-votes scam: Delhi Police

New Delhi:  Delhi Police have made clear that no clean chit has been given to any politician in the cash-for-votes scam yet. Sources say investigations are still on and several politicians are still under the scanner, including former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.

The police sources rubbished a newspaper report today that claimed that the Delhi Police had found no politician guilty and that its investigation was now focused on a middleman it had arrested called Suhail Hindustani. The police deny this and sources claimed that they have clear evidence of what they call "Amar Singh's complicity in the case". And that several BJP MPs too are still being investigated.

Sadananda Gowda named new Chief Minister of Karnataka

Bangalore:  Sadananda Gowda will be Karnataka's new Chief Minister.

The BJP's 121 MLAs voted for Mr Gowda through secret ballot at a legislature party meeting held at Bangalore's Capitol Hotel on Wednesday afternoon. Senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh supervised the voting, once it was clear that no consensus on one name was possible.

Earlier, MLAs were seen arriving in buses, cheering loudly for Mr Yeddyurappa - he claimed he has the support of over 70.  Another lot showed up brandishing the Victory sign - they were part of a camp of about 50 MLAs led by Ananth Kumar. The meeting was delayed as each leader sought to convince the central leaders that his man be the next CM. So divided is the BJP at the moment that there were differences even in the way the two camps wanted the voting done - the Yeddyurappa camp wanted open voting while the Ananth kumar camp favoured the secret ballot.

"We do  not agree that growth is related to prices. If growth means a rise in prices, then we do not want such growth," he said. Then he pulled out the C-stick that the Opposition wants to beat the government with in this parliament session.

Captain Cool is feeling the heat

Just three months ago, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the darling of a billion people and the toast of a cricket-crazy nation.

Columnists and commentators had run of adjectives to describe the Jharkhandi as he took India to World Cup glory in Mumbai in April.

However, following two embarrassing defeats in as many Tests against England, the Indian skipper’s world appears to have turned upside down. From captain courageous, he has now been branded captain clueless.

Three months, Dhoni must be thinking, can be too long in cricket. There have been instances in the past when Dhoni has come under flak, notably after India’s failed campaigns in World T20s in 2009 (in England) and 2010 (in the West Indies), but never has his captaincy come under such sharp focus before.

The making of brand 'Salman'

He is controversy's favourite child. He is moody. But then what makes Salman Khan so popular?
In 2008, Salman was giving interviews for 'Yuvvraaj' and after much chasing, he agreed to spare 10 minutes for a quick chat. But pinning this Khan down is never an easy task. So a wait of more than four hours ensued. There were whispers amongst the waiting journalists that 'bhai' must be very drunk and he needs time and mood to sober up. Test Drive : Volkswagen Passat - A Bag of Tricks

Volkswagen Passat
Anamit Sen spent a couple of days re-acquainting himself with a Passat in Delhi NCR. It's been a while since I drove the VW Passat, five years to be exact. It was a car that was imported into India by VW's representative at the time, a dealer in Noida way back in 2006 before VW had entered India. The first generation Passat made its first appearance way back in 1973. The car I drove in 2006 was introduced in March 2005 and was based on the then-new B6 platform which was a generation ahead of the then-current B5-based Skoda Superb. When VW came into India in 2007, it led with the Passat and then introduced their other models. So with respect to India, the Passat is quite an important car for VW.

It was almost as if the companies depended entirely on their founders, who, having been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, can't take out any cookies for them.
