Wedding wows! 120-year-old man marries 60-year-old



Silchar (Assam), Oct 28 (IANS) If their respective ages were to be added up, they'll date back to India's first war of independence in 1857. So, when 120-year-old Hazi Abdul Noor tied the knot with 60-year-old Samoi Bibi, the 500 guests at the wedding ceremony were bound to be left gaping.

Rajiv's killers' plea hearing adjourned to Nov 29












Chennai:  The Madras High Court adjourned the petition hearing of the three convicts on death row in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case on Friday. The next hearing will take place on November 29. The convicts are seeking commutation of capital punishment.

Team Anna has deviated from its objective, says former member












Jaipur:  Rajinder Singh, who quit Team Anna due to differences over its political approach, has alleged that Anna Hazare deviated from his objective by supporting a "corrupt" candidate in Hisar bypoll and that his team is full of "arrogant" people.

Kolkata: Four more infant deaths in BC Roy Hospital, death toll rises to 17












Kolkata:  There have been more more infant deaths in Kolkata's BC Roy Hospital since Thursday night, taking the total death toll this week to 17. Medical Superintendent at the government-run hospital said that all the four infants were less than one-month-old.

New Delhi:  Amid deepening controversies over some of its most influential members, Team Anna's core committee meets tomorrow in Delhi. Anna, 74, will not attend; he has extended his "maun vrat" or vow of silence.  Medha Patkar and Justice Santosh Hegde will also be absent.

Imphal:  Medha Patkar has been detained in Imphal during  a protest against Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Bomb found on Advani's yatra near Madurai














Madurai:  A bomb was found on the outskirts of Madurai on the route that was meant to be followed today by LK Advani's yatra or tour in Tamil Nadu.

The five-foot long bomb, linked to a 50-metre wire and four detonators and batteries, was found under a bridge at Alampatti, 30 km from  Madurai. The bomb weighs seven kilograms.

Another 12 babies die in Bengal, this time in Burdwan













Burdwan, West Bengal:  Close on the heels of the death of 13 babies in a government hospital in Kolkata, 12 newborns have died in the Burdwan Medical College and hospital here.

The deaths have taken place since Thursday, hospital deputy superintendent Tapas Kumar Ghosh said today.
