Nepal's Prime Minister recalls his wedding in Delhi













New Delhi:  Nepal Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai today went nostalgic as he recalled his wedding 30 years ago with a fellow comrade Hisila Yami in the national capital.

"Both me and Hisila did not believe in rituals. We wanted to have a court marriage," he told a reception in his honour here addressing the audience and "my former student friends,
comrades and gurus".

14-day strike at Maruti's Manesar plant ends













New Delhi:  The 14-day-long strike at the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has been called off this morning following a tripartite agreement between the management, workers and the Haryana government.

As part of the agreement, the management has agreed to take back 64 permanent workers but another 30 will remain suspended. It has also been agreed that around 1,200 casual workers would also be reinstated, sources privy to the talks said.

Jayalalithaa back in Bangalore court today














Bangalore:  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be back in the courthouse in Bangalore today. Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM. After answering 380 questions in court in a corruption case on Thursday, the Chief Minister had flown back to Chennai. Today, she will be asked another 300 questions.

Supreme Court to hear plea against F1 tax exemption today












New Delhi:  The Supreme Court will today take up a Public Interest Litigation or PIL which questions Uttar Pradesh government's action in granting entertainment tax exception to the Jaypee Group for organizing the Formula One race in Greater Noida later this month.

Earthquake in Junagadh, tremors in Mumbai














Mumbai:  Light tremors were felt in Mumbai after an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted Gujarat on Thursday night. There were, however, no immediate reports of any casualty or damage.

Karunanidhi to meet Kanimozhi in Delhi today












Chennai:  DMK president M Karunanidhi is expected to meet his daughter Kanimozhi, jailed for her alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, in Delhi today.

The 88-year-old DMK patriarch, his wife Rajathi and grandson and Kanimozhi's son Adithya are scheduled to leave by a government carrier in the evening, airport sources said.

Noida land verdict: Land notification for three villages quashed














New Delhi:  The Allahabad High Court has quashed the land notification for three villages - Asadullapur, Shaberi Village and Devla village.

The court has also disposed off all other petitions. Farmers of other villages will get 10 per cent of developed land and enhanced compensation.

ayalalithaa reaches Bangalore court, will answer 300 questions today














Chennai/Bangalore:  J Jayalalithaa is back in a Bangalore trial court which is recording her statement in connection with a Rs. 66-crore disproportionate assets case against her. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister answered 379 questions in court yesterday, and is expected to answer another 300 today. 

Setback for Mayawati, land acquisition cancelled in 3 Noida villages













Allahabad:  In a setback for Mayawati in the Noida land row, the Allahabad High Court has ordered her government to return land to farmers in three villages - Yusufpur Chak Shahberi, Asdullapur and Devla.

New Delhi:  Days after their royal wedding, Bhutan's king and queen will come to India next week on a nine-day state visit that will pack in diplomacy as well as a honeymoon trip to Rajasthan.

This would be Bhutan's monarch Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck's fourth visit to India since his coronation in November 2008.
