New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday granted bail to Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa in the 2G spectrum scam case. The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) had earlier told the court that it is not opposed to the bail plea of Balwa.
The bail conditions of Balwa's bail are the same as for others - surety of Rs 5 lakh and no travel abroad.
Majid Memon, Balwa's lawyer said, "Shahid Balwa got bail following the same lines as SC order. We are hopeful that shahid Balwa will come out of jail by today late evening. Grounds of bail are the same as that of the Apex court."
Balwa's bail comes 24 hours after the five accused including DMK MP Kanimozhi were given bail.
RK Chandolia's lawyer Vijay Agarwal said, "Bail bonds of all 6 will be submitted at 3 pm today. All 6 will be out of jail today itself."
The CBI had arrested the Mumbai-based realty promoter in February.
The Enforcement Directorate had trailed Rs 214 crore allegedly routed by Balwa and DB Realty to Chennai-based Kalaignar television, a channel promoted by family members of DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi.
The Delhi High Court had granted bail on Monday to DMK MP Kanimozhi and four others.
Other than Kanimozhi the other accused who have been granted bail include Cineyug founder Karim Morani, Kalaignar TV's MD Sharath Kumar, Kusegaon directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal.
