Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi has said that it is unfair for Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to be heading the state's Vigilance department as it is probing a disproportionate assets case against her.
The DMK supremo cited the instance of Kerala chief minister Oomen Chandy who gave up the vigilance portfolio last week after a court ordered a probe into his role in the palmolein import case.
"When a vigilance probe is on against her, it is completely improper for her to hold the portfolio. The Kerala chief minister had not only relinquished the vigilance portfolio but also offered to legally face the case. One has to have the courage to say like this," Mr Karunanidhi said in his party mouthpiece 'Murasoli'
