Superstar Rajinikanth has come out strongly in support of Anna Hazare and his campaign for the Jan Lokpal Bill. India Against Corruption (IAC) today released a statement from the superstar in Chennai.
"I wholeheartedly support the IAC movement in their campaign to get the Jan Lokpal Bill legislated in Parliament. I'm very happy that we have a very able and dedicated leader in Anna Hazare to lead the fight against corruption," the superstar, hailed as the Thalaivar by many, said.
"I congratulate all the Indians who have lent their support to this bloodless revolution! This kind of peaceful movement is possible only in India which is the birthplace of Satyagraha," the superstar added.
"There could be no doubt that corruption is a dreaded disease and needed to be weeded out from society," said Rajinikanth, who is recuperating from kidney-related ailment after undergoing treatment in a Singapore hospital.
Rajnikanth's fans wanted their Thalaivar to express his support through a statement, rather than by fasting to avoid his health from deteriorating.
In May, the legendary actor underwent treatment in a Singapore hospital and is currently taking good care of his health, said sources close to his family.
