CBI raids Janardhana Reddy's aides

Bellary:  Raids are being conducted by the CBI in Bellary on the residence of S Gurulinga Gowda, president of the Bellary Urban Development Authority and Gonal Rajashekhara Gowda, a zilla panchayat member.

The 11-member CBI team headed by Superintendent of Police Venkatesh from Hyderabad swooped down on the residence of Mr Gowda, located at Renukacharya Nagara this morning.

Both men are known to be close associates of former Karnataka minister Janardhan Reddy, who has been arrested for his alleged role in illegal mining after CBI raids on his residence last week. Mr Reddy is in jail in Hyderabad.

Sources hinted that the CBI team might conduct searches on some more associates of Mr Reddy.

Two businessmen K Bhaskara Reddy and Venkata Reddy are also being raided.
