New Delhi: Team Anna member Kiran Bedi received the breach of privilege notice for her parody on politicians on Friday evening, even as Arvind Kejriwal was slapped with an Income Tax notice to pay up Rs 9 lakh for violating the terms of his Indian Revenue Service bond.
Anna Hazare has slammed the government for targeting his team. "The way the government is targeting Kejriwal is not fair," Anna said.
Praising Kejriwal for his dignity, Anna said that Kejriwal has dedicated his entire life to the country and is not fond of money. "I know him very well. I request the government not to target him," Anna said.
He said that he in his team will have to find a way if the government keeps targeting them.
Anna even called Home Minister P Chidambaram a liar and said, "Home Minister is a liar, he does not speak the truth."
But key government mediator Pranab Mukherjee denied allegations of the government targeting Team Anna. "There is no question of targeting anyone," he said.
Earlier on Friday, members of Team Anna also accused the government of targeting them. Terming it a political vendetta, Kejriwal said, "No correspondence took place in the past four years. The Income Tax Department sent me a notice on August 5 prior to Anna's fast beginning on August 16. It seems I-T Department's political bosses ordered them to send me this notice. Government officers have been trying to dig up dirt on me for the past 10 years."
Another member of Team Anna under scrutiny is Shanti Bhushan. Shanti Bhushan, the legal mind of Team Anna, has to confront the Delhi Police, which is yet again claiming that the CDs allegedly showing a deal between the Bhushans and Amar Singh over a land deal was genuine.
"The Government is back to its old tricks yet again," said lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
