Naidu declares his and his family's Rs.37-crore assets
Stating that he was setting a new trend for politicians across the country and challenging his political adversaries, Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday made public his and his family's assets estimated at Rs.37.55 crore.

In what appeared to be typically Mr. Naidu's response to “smear” campaign that “he owned thousands of crores of assets, including hotels in Singapore and other places”, he even announced that he was prepared to transfer any asset other than these to anybody who proved with documentary evidence that it belonged to him.
“I want to set an example for other politicians to follow and put an end to the mudslinging that has been going on for quite some time. My message is simple. Do not depend on politics for livelihood. Use politics for public service and do not misuse power for handing out favours,” he said.
Of the Rs.37.55 crore family assets, he owned the least -- Rs.39.88 lakh including Rs.23.20 lakh house in Jubilee Hills (purchased in 1992 and which has been pledged to Vijaya Bank), savings bank balance of Rs.15.16 lakh, and an Ambassador car bought in 1993-94 at Rs.1.52 lakh.
He clarified that he was only giving out the acquisition and not the market value as the latter keeps changing.
Mr. Naidu said his wife, Bhuvaneswari owned Rs.27 crore (after removing liabilities). The assets include investment of Rs.1,995.49 lakh in Heritage Foods, a listed company and Rs.1,377.75 lakh in Nirvana Holdings. He put his son Lokesh's assets at Rs.6.75 crore and his daughter-in-law Brahmani's at Rs.3.22 crore, including two plots in the controversial Emaar Properties at Manikonda here.
Probity
Asked if he was provoked by YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's campaign against him, he said he would not comment on him. He was only doing what he felt like in the backdrop of the nationwide campaign against corruption and in favour of probity in public life. He had been declaring his assets to Assembly Speaker since 1999 and the Election Commission in 2004 and 2009 Assembly elections, he added.
