It's a girl for Aishwarya


In June this year, Amitabh Bachchan broke the news about Aishwarya's pregnancy.
The Bachchans, one of the most renowned families of Bollywood film industry, sent happy tweets on Wednesday morning to tell fans and well-wishers that the family had been blessed with the arrival of a baby girl.


Abhishek Bachchan, husband of actor Aishwarya Rai and the proud father of their first baby, tweeted on the social micro-blogging site Twitter at around 10 a.m., “IT'S A GIRL!!!!!! :-)))))”
“Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest....” the 35-year-old actor tweeted later in the day.
Aishwarya (38) was admitted to a city hospital on Monday night. The delivery took place on Wednesday morning.
“I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl!!” tweeted Amitabh Bachchan. “A dada ji ... Ecstatic !!!!” he exclaimed later.
Several family friends and celebrities visited Seven Hills Hospital to wish the Bachchan family. Among those who called on the proud mother were actor Sonali Bendre and her husband Goldie Behl, producer Bunty Walia, director Apoorva Lakhia, and politician and close friend of the Bachchan family Amar Singh.
Many celebrities including Shahrukh Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, Javed Akhtar and Karan Johar tweeted wishes to the Bachchan family.
“thank you all ...!” Amitabh said in response.
On Tuesday evening, he had posted an anxious message on the website, “... and as I write, there is still no news from Aishwarya…your wishes and prayers with us...thank you...”
On Wednesday evening, Abhishek expressed his excitement: “And I'm trying my level best to get rid of this caffeine high and get some sleep too. Don't think it'll work. TOO EXCITED!!!!”
Amitabh thanked the media for not intruding into the family's privacy. “As I travel back from the hospital I need to thank the media for keeping their word of not intruding on our privacy. Deeply obliged!” he wrote on Wednesday evening.
The Broadcast Editors Association's (BEA) had issued a 10-point guideline for the coverage of Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan's delivery, so that the privacy of the family was maintained.
Amitabh also promised the media that the family will give time to the media. “We will give time to both electronic and print media... PR will be setting up... Have been up for more than 24 hours... Need rest.”
