IT, health sectors face maximum attrition rate
The information technology (IT) and healthcare sectors are witnessing the highest attrition rates among talented employees, says a survey. The IT and IT enabled services (ITES) sectors saw the highest attrition rate of 23 per cent in the first quarter of 2010-11.
The main reason for switching a job is pay packages, followed by career level growth, dissatisfaction with supervisors and work pressure.
Employees with experience of up to five years had the highest attrition rate of 39 per cent, while it was 27 per cent for those with 5-10 years of experience and 22 per cent in the 10-15 years' experience bracket.
In the October-December 2010 quarter, Wipro faced the highest attrition rate at 21.7%, while Infosys saw 17.5% and TCS faced an attrition of 14.4%.
In India, the average attrition rate in the ITES sector is approximately 30-35 per cent and the challenge continues to be greater considering the recent growth of the industry in the country.
Keeping low attrition levels is a major challenge as the demand outstrips the supply of good agents by a big margin.
