After rainy hellish morning, Mumbai starts to recover

Mumbai:  It was a manic Monday for Mumbai commuters trying to get to office this morning. The Central line, which includes major stations like Byculla, Dadar and Thane, was closed by 9 am because water had accumulated on several tracks. Trains on the Western line, used by about 30 lakh people everyday, were running 10 minutes late.  Flights at 11 am were delayed  on an average by about 20 minutes.

On a normal weekday, about 35 to 40 lakh people use the Central Line. By noon, all train services were restored.

All municipal schools in the city have been closed.

The met department expects the heavy rain to continue for the next 24 hours.
