New Delhi: An unidentified man lunged at the pocket of an MP returning to Delhi on board a train on Monday and fled with cash and valuables, police said.
Nalanda MP Kaushalendra Kumar of the Janata Dal-United told police that an unidentified man snatched his pocket while he was standing near the door of his coach of the Ahmedabad Mail as it passed Pulbangash in north Delhi around 5 a.m.
"Kaushalendra Kumar was coming from Ajmer to Delhi," said Deputy Commissioner of Police BS Gujjar.
The snatcher was trying to board the slowly-moving train. "As soon as the man climbed the train, he suddenly grabbed and tore away the shirt pocket of Kaushalendra Kumar and ran away with cash amounting to aroundRs.5,000 and all various identity and ATM cards, the official said.
"We have deputed a team of five policemen to investigate the matter," Gujjar said.
