London: England players celebrated their series win against India, at The Oval last week, with a party at a London nightclub according to Britain's Daily Mail.
A report on the website of the Daily Mail says that the celebrations went on till the wee hours of the morning after. Pacer Tim Bresnan led the team into the club- Mahiki- with fellow players Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Matt Prior and Kevin Pietersen. Interestingly, a 4-0 win and the status of being members of the top-Test side did not give the players any special privileges. The report has that the players were made to wait in a line for an entry but once they did enter the club, it was jubilant celebrations with alcohol flowing free.
In fact, the cricketers were seen striking up conversations with a few women, not part of their own group, in the VIP area as cigarettes were being exchanged. "The boys were in their own VIP area partying with D12, Eminem’s hip-hop group. They seemed to be having a great time, attracting a lot of female attention. There were four blonde girls, real head-turners, (who) were soon hanging around with the boys," the report quoted a fellow reveller as saying.
Each player eventually left the venue with a bottle of rum and in waiting taxis with Matt Prior and Stuart Broad opting to share a ride at 3 am in the morning.
The women followed the cricketers back to the hotel but were initially denied entry, says the report. Observers, however, tell the news paper that authorities relented after the cricketers pleaded with them. "There was a bit of a hiccup about who was allowed in but in the end it was sorted. It seemed they were intent on having a proper party. Eventually the girls just headed off," Daily Mail quotes an observer as saying.
Anderson and Prior are both married with children while Bresnan is in a committed relationship. In fact, according to the same report, only Stuart Broad is single as he recently broke up with former Grange Hill actress Kacey Barnfield.
