Congress, BJP scuffle tumbles Afzal Guru resolution in J&K assembly



Srinagar: Amid differences between the national parties Congress and BJP, an assembly resolution seeking clemency for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru fell through on Wednesday, creating a chaos in the state assembly, leading to adjournment of the J&K legislature. 



As soon as the proceedings began on Wednesday, it had to be adjourned following the chaotic scene created by the political parties against each other, the ruckus affected as the resolution moved by Independent legislator Engineer Rashid for the Parliament attack convict had to be discussed. It was third day of the autumn session and Congress members including ministers started shouting slogans and disrupting the proceedings.

Reportedly, the House eventually had to give up listed business including the controversial resolution seeking clemency of Afzal Guru convicted in Parliament attack.

As per the sources, the private member's resolution would now is scheduled for next session.

Apparently, Wednesday was the only day for private members' bills to be taken up in the current nine-day session that ends next week.

The chaotic state occurred soon after Congress legislators demanded action against seven BJP MLAs who had voted against their party whip in last legislative council elections.

In response, Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone adjourned the house for the first time in the day as the legislators of the two parties screamed and raised slogans against each other.

Reportedly, the MLAs of the Congress party accused the seven BJP members of corruption and enquired about their status after the party high command had suspended them.

On that, members of the BJP party objected to the Congress demand, leading to uproar and ruckus. They, along with the panther's Party, demanded the resolution be dropped.

As soon as the house re-assembled in day, Lone had to adjourn the house for the day, following the uproar and ruckus continually.
