Bangalore, Sept 29: The Kolkata Knight Riders slumped to a third successive defeat in the Champions League T20 and their progress to the next round seems unlikely. When they got past the minimum score in their second qualifier, there were celebrations in the KKR camp. The loss to Somerset in that game hardly mattered as they had achievedqualification into the main draw of the CLT20.
Though a loss in the qualifying round against somerset saw them go through the group stage of the champions league, another match against somerset in the champions league twenty20 which seemed to be a revenge match, somerset beat KKR by 5 wickets.
"I think we batted really well but Merwe took the game away from us. We were looking for a score of 145 but with that one over in which we got four sixes, we got a good score. It was very good total on this wicket but the way they batted all credit to Somerset," Gambhir said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Having experienced players like Kallis, Pathan, Lee, Balaji and young talent like Morgan and Tiwary, Gambhir hoped that they will do well in the remaining three Group stage matches, but the south australians were also hunting for a first win after a heavy 50-run defeat against warriors.
