Freaky Friday; rain grounds Delhi; massive jams

New Delhi:  It was a Freaky Friday for Delhi as the city woke up to non-stop rain.  By noon, Delhi had recorded 91 mm of rainfall. The city usually gets 128 mm of rain in the entire month of September. In real-life terms, the city was stuck in knee-deep water or worse in several parts. Cars stranded were a common sight; at many places like GK1, those who lived in houses came out onto the streets, holding umbrellas to guide hapless drivers.

The Delhi Police warns that traffic is slow; there's water-logging near Akshardham; jams between Modi Mill and Chiraag Dilli. The Noida DND has been closed.

There were reports of traffic being affected at Rail Bhavan near Parliament, Rafi Marg, Vikas Marg, Africa Avenue, Adhchini, Mayapuri chowk, Naraina road, IP flyover, Kalindi Kunj, Malviya Nagar and Yusuf Sarai.

Water-logging was reported near Patparganj flyover, Defence Colony flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai road, GTB road, Patel Chest to Daulat Ram College, Prahladpur, Keshav Chowk Railway bridge, Maharani Bagh and Govindpuri Metro station.

A young girl died  when the boundary wall of a hospital in Gautam Colony of Narela collapsed at around 7:30 am.
