Cash-for-votes scam: Order on Amar Singh's bail reserved

New Delhi:  The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved till October 24 its order on the interim and regular bail pleas of Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, arrested in connection with the 2008 cash-for-votes scandal in Parliament.

Justice Suresh Kait said the order on bail applications of the accused will be pronounced October 24.

The ruling came after the Delhi Police submitted before the court that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where Amar Singh is admitted, said in its report that the MP's condition was critical and he needed constant monitoring.

Police counsel said: "We cannot dispute the report of AIIMS, which states his condition is critical therefore we do not oppose his bail application on medical grounds."

Amar Singh was arrested September 6 for his alleged involvement in an attempt to bribe MPs ahead of the July 2008 parliament trust vote.
