Kabul: In the backdrop of Pakistan cautioning America against "unilateral military offensive" on its soil, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to arrive in the country today.
Secretary Clinton is likely to reach in the afternoon and could meet Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, President Asif Ali Zardari and Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
The trip, being viewed as sudden in Ms Clinton's itinerary, assumes significance coming as it does in the wake of General Kayani's strong warning on Wednesday that US lawmakers "will have to think 10 times" before opting for a unilateral military offensive in North Waziristan.
General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani explained this on Tuesday during a rare briefing to two parliamentary defense committees. The briefing followed increased U.S. pressure on Pakistan to crack down on the Haqqani militant network believed to be based in the country's North Waziristan tribal area along the Afghan border.
