Dipping temperature forces closure of Delhi schools

New Delhi:  The Delhi government today ordered closure of all schools in the city from December 26 to January 15 to ensure that students do not suffer due to dipping temperature and cold conditions.

A senior official of the Education department said the order is applicable to both government and private schools.

The decision to issue the order was taken after government received large number of requests from parents and schools authorities demanding closure of the schools in view of the extreme cold condition, he said.

"We have issued the order to ensure that school children do not suffer due to extreme weather condition," the official added.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 6.4 deg C today, two degrees below normal for this time of the year and according to MeT department the temperature is likely to drop further in the coming days.
