Amritsar: Bodies of a mother and her teenage daughter were recovered on Tuesday from the debris of a four-storied building that had collapsed due to heavy rain, officials said.
Dead bodies of Mehak (19) and her mother, who were trapped under the debris of a building that had collapsed on Monday due to heavy rain were recovered.
Earlier, executive magistrate Vinay Sharma had said that it was feared that the two trapped under the debris were dead since both were on the ground floor of the house when the incident occurred.
Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal who had visited the spot said rescue work was slow, since the cleaning of debris was being conducted manually as the road leading to the building was narrow.
Mehak's father, Naresh Kumar, accused the administration of not acting swiftly to save his child and wife.
In another incident, a person was killed after a building collapsed in Kot Khalsa area.
