11-yr-old waited for her father, found his body
Eleven-year-old Manisha sat under a torn tent near the collapsed under-construction building in Shalimar Garden, Ghaziabad. Her mother died when the building fell on Saturday, her body was found. But Manisha and her siblings were still at the site, watching the rescue efforts, still waiting.
“Police are working to get my father out of the building. I know he is there. We are waiting for him,” said Manisha.
A day after the collapse, which killed 10 workers and left 13 injured, the rescue efforts are still on.
Manisha sat cradling her few months old sister Komal, her gaze unbroken even as she answered questions.
“We came at 11 am from our village. I do not know what is happening,” she said.
Virendra Singh, an officer on duty, said the National Disaster Response Force had installed cameras to detect the location of the bodies. He said five cranes have been deployed to speed up the rescue process.
