Delhi Police arrest Amar Singh's aide over 'cash-for-vote scam'

New Delhi, July 17(ANI): The Delhi Police on Sunday arrested Sanjeev Saxena, reported to be a close aide of former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, on bribery charges in connection with the 2008 'cash-for-vote scam'.
Saxena has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be produced before a court tomorrow, CNN-IBN reports.
The arrest comes two days after the Supreme Court criticized the Delhi Police for no progress in the probe.
The cash-for-votes scandal is an alleged scandal in which the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre is accused of bribing MPs to win the vote-of-confidence over the crucial Indo-US nuclear deal in July 2008.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier alleged that Saxena was caught on camera giving money to the BJP MPs. (ANI)
