Job fraud in Mamata name

A man who has allegedly duped at least 15 Andhra Pradesh residents by claiming to be Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and promising railway jobs was caught along with an accomplice by Trinamul leaders in Kidderpore on Tuesday.
Some of those who had allegedly paid Abhijit Bhattacharya, a Burdwan resident, and Ujjwal Dafadar, who lives in the port area, to secure jobs had travelled to the city and approached the leaders for help.

The leaders asked them to call up the racketeers and say that they were willing to pay more for appointment letters. They were asked to wait with the money outside a market in Kidderpore on Tuesday. When Bhattacharya and Dafadar turned up, they were detained.
“Trinamul leaders from the port area set a trap and caught the accused. The two were later handed over to officers of Ekbalpore police station,” said joint commissioner (crime) Damayanti Sen.
Fake appointment letters and a firearm with a cartridge were found on the duo. The Scorpio in which they came was impounded.
A third accused, Mohammad Salauddin, a resident of Ekbalpore, is on the run. “He had visited Andhra Pradesh last month and taken money from several people, saying he would secure railway jobs for them. He introduced Bhattacharya, who was travelling with him, as Mamata Banerjee’s nephew to earn the trust of his victims,” said an officer of Ekbalpore police station.
“Salauddin had also organised a fake admission test in a guest house in Hyderabad. Some of those who sat for it were told that they had been selected. When some of these people did not get their appointment letters, they came to the city and contacted Trinamul leaders,” added the cop.
