‘Answer is N-O’ |
July 26: Michelle Obama has she insisted that she will not follow her husband’s footsteps into politics despite always getting high ratings from the US public.
The First Lady also admitted that she has struggled to cope with her public role and “sharing my husband with the world”. When asked whether she would consider entering front line politics herself, Michelle Obama said: “The answer is N-. Period. Dot.”
“What I’ve learned as a woman growing up, getting older, is you’ve got to know who you are. And a politician — it’s never been who I was or wanted to be.”
She said she often felt “selfish”, with her husband having such as high profile role. “You get a little selfish sometimes,” she said. “But every time I get irritated or feel lonely or tired, I just think, ‘this is our duty”.”
Michelle Obama has a high profile among the American public by spearheading a campaign to combat child obesity.
She has hosted several events at the White House and enlisted the help of celebrity chefs.
