India vs England: 70 percent chance of whitewash, says Gavaskar

Cricket expert Sunil Gavaskar said on Wednesday that on current form, there is a 70 per cent chance that India will go down to a series whitewash at the hands of England.

Team India, who are already 3-0 down in the series will play England in the fourth and final match at the Oval.

The former Indian captain also indicated that India have lacked the most tactically but at the same time emphasised on Dhoni being the ideal man to lead Team India. "I still think he(MS Dhoni) is the best man for all three forms of the game", said Gavaskar.

On being asked what changes India must make to get their act right, Gavaskar cited changes in the bowling setup. "I'd look at the bowling changes, Munaf Patel must replace Sreesanth", said the former Indian skipper.

Gavaskar also laid down the reason why India's bowlers were not as effective as Zaheer seemed to be on overseas tours. "Zaheer has the experience and others don't. Just like a batsman needs experience to go from 60 to 100, our young boys like Ishant, Sreesanth and Munaf can get you 3 wickets but they will not be able to go to 5 wickets", said Gavaskar.

The former opening batsman was also in favour of having selectors who have been let off from cricket for 5 years. "I think 10 years is too long a period. 5 years means that a guy is still in reasonable touch with contemporary cricket", he said.
