Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh Tuesday launched a cricket academy named after him in association with the Pathways World School.
Yuvraj Singh Centres of Excellence (YSCE) aims to provide world class cricket coaching facilities to budding cricketers from around the 1,484 sq km National Captial Region, which include areas of Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
"I very strongly believe that education and sports go hand in hand which help in building strong characters and leaders," said Yuvraj in a release.
"Formal education with the joy of learning combined with sports will establish a long lasting and perfect partnership. Today's youth needs strong guidance and an opportunity to hone their budding talent."
Speaking of their initiative with the YSCE, Pathways Schoolsdirector Praveen Jain said: "We are delighted to join hands with World Cup superstar. We hope these centers will produce many more Indian cricket sensations like Yuvraj."
"We believe in giving something different and extra to the young generation, and having someone like Yuvraj on the premises will be great source of encouragement and motivation to the youngsters."
YSCE said it will bring established Indian and international cricketers for the budding players, who will also benefit from ultra-modern training methods.
