Bhutia set to return

Bhaichung Bhutia is set to make a return to the Indian football squad as he was named in the 32 probables for the three-match series against arch-rivals Pakistan in England starting August 25. The tour, which has been dubbed as ‘Clash of the Titans ends on Sept 11 with matches to be held in Manchester, Coventry and London.


Sources in the AIFF said that the former skipper will play in England provided he is fully fit. Bhutia was earlier dropped from the list of 42 probables named for India's World Cup football qualifier against UAE on July 23 and July 28.

Winning start
India defeated Thailand 3-0 in the under-18 boys category while the under-15 team got the better of fancied Japan 3-1 in the group stages of the Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships that got underway at the Thyagaraj Stadium.
India's highest-ranked player in the tournament Soumyajit Ghosh and Sourav Saha won their singles in straight games.

Harikrishna winsGrandmaster and Asian champion P Harikrishna proved his mettle by guiding India to a much-needed 2.5-1.5 victory over Israel in the fourth round of the World Team Chess Championship. Harikrishna outclassed Emil Sutovsky.
