Mumbai Blasts: NIA In touch with state police

BANGALORE: The Maharashtra antiterror squad (ATS) and the national investigating agency (NIA) are in constant touch with the state police in connection with the recent serial blasts in Mumbai.
According to sources, the NIA officials had visited Bangalore recently and questioned some of the inmates of Parappana Agrahara who were accused in IISc attack and Bangalore serial bomb blasts.

Home Minister R Ashok told reporters on Tuesday that state police had been coordinating with the NIA and Maharasthra ATS and sharing available information with them.
Ashok said the central investigating agency has also alerted the state police about the possible entry of terror groups into Karnataka. "Police are keeping a close watch on the activities of Karnataka Forum for Dignity," he said.
Cops Verifying Suspect's Details
Meanwhile, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths who are carrying out parallel investigations into the Mumbai terror attack leads, are verifying the inputs provided by one of the suspects arrested by the Mumbai crime branch near Kishenjang on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Riyazul Sarkar, is said to be an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh.
Sarkar was in the country and worked as a labourer for several months in different parts of the country. He was nabbed while trying to cross back to Bangladesh after the Mumbai terror attacks.
Detailed inquiries with Sarkar revealed that he had stayed in many places including Bangalore and managed to learn the local languages including Kannada. Since Bangalore is also on the the terror radar, the crime branch sleuths extracted details of his work and residence.
However, the Central Crime Branch, which checked the credentials provided by Sarkar, found them to be fake and conveyed this to their counterparts in Mumbai, said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, city police commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji said nobody has been detained or arrested in Bangalore in connection with the terror attacks that recently rocked Mumbai.
