"Allegations are being levelled regarding installing statues of Chief Minister Mayawati along with Kanshiramji at some memorials and other places," a BSP spokesman said in a statement issued here.
"It is not her will, but this has been done as per the 'written will' of party founder Kanshiram," he added.
"In his will, Kanshiram had directed that Mayawati was her lone political successor and wherever his statues are installed it should be done along with that of the BSP national president," he said.
He alleged opposition parties of adopting anti-Dalit mentality due to which they were indulging in baseless allegations against the BSP.
"If opposition parties would have constructed memorials and parks in the honour of saints and prominent personalities of Dalits and other backward classes, there would have been no need for the BSP government to do so in Lucknow and Noida," he said.
The spokesman alleged that the opposition parties were also trying to mislead the people on the issue of expenditure on such memorials and parks.
"Less than one per cent of the state budget had been spent on these construction works and income from sale of tickets will be much higher," he claimed.
