Delhi: Many of us have had a crush on one of our teachers at one point or the other. This 20-year-old took matters a bit too far. Sauvik Banerjee, an aspiring radio jockey (RJ) fell in love with his 40-year-old teacher and sent her thousands of text messages, confessing his feelings. The incident was reported from Saket in South Delhi.
"Sauvik told the police that he loves his teacher. But when the woman told him that she is 40 years old, he was shocked. She also told him that she is married and has two children. Hearing this he (Sauvik) broke into tears and said that she doesn't look like a 40-year-old and he always thought she was 20 and fell in love with her," said a senior police official, wishing anonymity.
Meanwhile, speaking to MiD-DAY, the teacher confirmed the incident, but refused to divulge any more information. This reporter visited the institute and found out that Sauvik was pursuing a course in radio jockeying at the Saket branch of Academy of Broadcasting when he fell in love with his teacher.
"He used to be our student. Now we have cancelled the franchise condition with Academy of Broadcasting. For the last month, we have not taken any admissions," said a representative of the establishment, who did not want to be named.
A police source said that Sauvik had proposed to the teacher many times but each time she brushed him aside. He then started sending her messages on her phone. "On December 31, 2010 he sent her a message at midnight," said the police. She had complained to the police earlier too.
"The teacher then got an FIR registered against him. Sauvik was arrested from Mandir Marg, where he was living at an office of a tours and travels agency," said the police.
