Cairns, Australia: Locals in Cairns, Australia, had a dangerous surprise visitor to their streets on Thursday as a crocodile emerged from a drain.
A motorist first spotted the crocodile as it wandered onto a road.
The 1.5 meter (5 foot) reptile was kept contained at the side of the road by road workers and police with large brooms.
The estuarine crocodile was eventually recovered by a Queensland Parks and Wildlife Ranger who threw a towel over it and then secured its mouth.
As he got into a nearby vehicle holding the crocodile a bystander quipped "make sure he's buckled up mate," before the ranger took the crocodile away.
