Don't boycott Teachers' Day: MLC Karnik

MANGALORE: MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik has appealed to teachers in the state not to observe black day on Teachers' Day. Karnik said the government has already fulfilled nearly 26 demands of teachers in the state. We observe Teachers' Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Observing black day on Teachers' Day is an uncalled for decision and it will send a wrong message to society. Hence, all teachers should be part of Teachers' Day programme, he added.

Functions for the day Udupi district in charge minister VS Acharya will inaugurate district-level Teachers' Day function at Ambalapady on Monday at 2.30 pm. He will leave for Bangalore later. District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar will inaugurate the taluk-level Teachers' Day celebrations to be held at AB Shetty Centenary Memorial Hall at Bunts Hostel Circle on Monday at 10 am. Later he will take part in the district level Teachers' Day celebrations to be held at Town Hall.
