If you've loved the ethnic sensibilities of designer Ritu Kumar, her devotion to the revival of traditional Indian craft and design, then don't miss seeing her work in a new movie that releases early next month.
Ritu, who has five decades of work behind her and is best known for her clothes that showcase India's rich heritage, will be doing the clothes for the movie Love Breakups Zindagi, an upcoming Hindi romantic film, directed by Sahil Sangha, starring Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan in leading roles. The bridalwear in the film is from her brand 'Ri' and all the clothes are unique, beautifully styled and worn by Dia, Aurita Ghosh, Soni Razdaan and Nandini Sen.
Ritu is also known for doing the gowns of three Miss India beauty queens who also went on to win the contest. Though she constantly encourages local craftsmen, she also stays abreast of the times by bringing new elements into her work, fusing elements from the East and West and bridging the gap between conservative and conventional design.
Her fine workmanship will again be on display in the movie which will release on October 7, 2011.
