Nearly $30,000 worth of copper cable stolen from Ontario construction sites

Provincial police say nearly $30,000 worth of copper cable was taken in two recent thefts east of Belleville, Ont.
Police say 1,800 metres of CN Rail copper cable was taken from the Deseronto Road crossing sometime around Aug. 17.

Another 600 metres was stolen from the Olivers Road crossing.
The cable was being installed for a Via Rail expansion project.
Police say a pickup truck or a van may have been used to move the cable, and multiple trips would have been involved.
