Bengal report card only on Trinamul site

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly claimed that her government is working in an impartial and neutral manner and is not being guided by any political party unlike the earlier Left Front government.
However, contrary to her claims, the report card of the performance of her government during the first 90 days in the office is available only on the official website of the Trinamul Congress www.aitmc.org. Despite being a government document (as its publisher is information and cultural affairs department which is held by the chief minister herself), it is not available on the official website of the West Bengal government www.wbgov.com
. The chief minister had tabled the report card, containing the achievements of her government in the Assembly on August 23.

Commenting on this, leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Suryakanta Mishra said: “The chief minister claims that her government is upholding the democracy which is contradictory to the reality. This development suggests that instead of democracy, particracy is prevailing in the state. It did not happen during the Left Front’s rule.”
This development has even surprised the Congress which is the ally of the Trinamul Congress-led government in the state. “The government document should be available in the government websites only, not in any other website. It only suggests that we have a long way to go to keep the promise of change in reality,” state Congress president Pradip Bhattacharya said.
Meanwhile, on being asked that why the document was not available in the official website of the state government, the additional director of information, state information and cultural affairs department, Shyamal Biswas said: “I will inquire about the matter on Monday.”
According to sources in the state government, though the information and cultural affairs department is the publisher of the 116-page document, it was not involved in the preparation of it at all. “Recently, the chief minister’s office asked the department to translate some contents of the report card to publish its English version,” sources added.
