New Delhi: The medical report of jailed Rajya Sabha MP and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh has said that the politician complained of urine problems and diarrhea for last four days.
The report was submitted by the panel of doctors from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) and GB Pant hospitals, who attended to Mr Singh in Tihar Jail. It recommends that Mr Singh requires treatment by specialists where all super-speciality care is available, preferably AIIMS.
Mr Singh was shifted to the private ward of AIIMS on Monday night after he complained of pain in his kidney. Today, he was moved to the VIP ward of the premier medical institute. A senior doctor at the hospital said that the jailed MP is sick and is likely to stay in the hospital for now.
Actor and close friend Jaya Prada too visited Amar Singh.
The medical report says that Mr Singh is suffering from Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and increased serum creatinine. His creatinine levels are fluctuating between 1.3 to 1.6; he continues to have vomiting and diarrhea for which tests like endoscopy and mucosal biopsy is suggested.
The report also says that yesterday, Mr Singh had fever with chills and his White Blood Cell counts counts increased to 13300 and that a psychiatric consultation is sought for his anxiety and restlessness.
Meanwhile, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) also submitted Mr Singh's medical report to the Tis Hazari court in Delhi today.
The sealed report was submitted by the hospital before special judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, saying the jailed MP was hospitalised due to his "fluctuating" health.
Mr Singh was admitted in AIIMS following complications related to post-renal transplant, diarrhoea, urinary tract infection, diabetes, dehydration and hypothyroid hypertension, Sanjay Gupta, Additional Professor of the Department of Nephrology at AIIMS, said in his report.
"The S Creatinine is fluctuating between 1.3-1.6 mg/dl (normal for him is 0.8-0.9 mg/dl). He (Amar Singh) has persistent tachycardia (heart rate exceeding normal range).
"He continues to have vomiting and diarrhoea for which the gastroenterologist has suggested automatic function tests and endoscopy with mucosal biopsy," the report said.
Mr Singh, a former leader of the Samajwadi Party has been in Tihar Jail since September 6 after he was arrested in connection with the cash-for-votes scam.
His lawyers have been arguing for his bail, citing reasons of poor health. The court had deferred his bail plea till September 15 directing AIIMS to submit a complete medical report. Mr Singh was shifted to the private ward of AIIMS on Monday night after he complained of pain in his kidney.
Mr Singh has been arrested for allegedly trying to bribe three MPs in 2008 to support the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government in a trust vote. At the time, Mr Singh was with the Samajwadi Party. He has been charged with giving the MPs - all from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) - one crore as an advance in return for their abstention during the trust vote, which Dr Singh eventually survived.
The trio of BJP MPs walked into the Lok Sabha hours before the vote began on July 22, 2008, waving bundles of notes. Two middlemen who allegedly liaisoned between them and Mr Singh have also been arrested in what's known as the cash-for-votes scam.
