Gorakhpur: An accused, in an attempt to murder, case was shot at, by two motorcycle-borne masked gunmen in Boga village in this district, police said today.
Amarjeet, who was out on bail in the attempt to murder case, was on his way to a local market here when the two masked men fired at him, injuring him critically, the victim's cousin Surendra, who was at the spot when the incident occurred, alleged in the police complaint.
A bullet has been shot into Amarjeet's stomach, however, his condition is stated to be stable, police said.
The incident is suspected to be result of an old enmity between Amarjeet and one Vinod Yadav, an army man, who had accused Amarjeet in the attempt to murder case.
Vinod had filed a police complaint against Amarjeet and four others after he was beaten up and shot at, during a wedding ceremony on May 17.
