Yeddyurappa's press statement


Bangalore:  Twenty four hours after he was indicted for accepting kickbacks from a mining company, BS Yeddyurappa has agreed to resign as Chief Minister of Karnataka. His party, the BJP, said that it made a "unanimous" decision this morning that he has to make way for a new leader.

In a press statement late on Thursday evening, Mr Yeddyurappa said he will resign as Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 31.

In his letter, Mr Yeddyurappa has said that he has worked hard for 40 years to bring party to this level.
