RIM launches BlackBerry Messenger 6 with app integration

RIM has released an update to its famed BlackBerry Messaging service revising it to version 6. The big difference - app integration that lets users continue messaging without having to close or exit certain apps. BBM has been integrated into a number of apps including Forsquare, ScoreMobile, Pocket Ants, Huffington Post, PowWow, Placar UOL, Menoo, Photo Booth, Navita Sports, Navita Translator and many more. In the months to come more apps are expected to join this library.

The app has some great real time functionality. For example, with a BBM connected game app, users can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game and then chat with one another in real time while the game is being played - without ever leaving the game app.

With app integration in the messaging service, users will be able to share whatever they want in real time and for free.

Some 45 million people use BBM -- which allows BlackBerry users with data plans to instantly pass text messages, pictures and other files without incurring charges from their network carrier -- and 70 percent of them use it daily.
