Salman Khan has finally been awarded some reprieve by the Rajasthan High Court in his long pending blackbuck case.
In the 13-year-old blackbuck poaching case against Khan for using firearms to kill endangered blackbuck in Jodhpur, the court had ruled that the actor submit an application with it every time he wishes to travel out of the country. A non-bailable case was registered against Khan in Jodhpur at the time.
Till date, the actor has submitted 108 applications with the Rajasthan HC. He has been granted permission every time.
In a recent ruling, the HC has removed the restictions on Khan for travelling aborad, reports DNA.
“The Rajasthan High Court issued an order on Monday removing the condition for Salman Khan to seek court’s permission before going abroad. He is fighting a case under Arm’s Act registered against him at the Loni police station,” a source confirmed to the daily.
“Justice Sandeep Mehta gave the verdict while hearing a petition which sought freedom to go abroad without a prior permission from the court. Salman’s lawyer put forward the argument that since he is a film actor, he needs to frequently go abroad for the shootings of his films.The lawyers also argued that seeking the court’s permission each time becomes too tiresome and time consuming. We are glad that the Court allowed our plea,” the source added.
Hastimal Saraswat, Khan's counsel argued that the actor needs to travel to the US for his treatment. Also, for film commitements the actor would be required to travel to Ireland, Turkey, Cuba and Thailand in different months till February 15, 2012.
On the condition that Khan update the HC regularly about his location and contact details, the court removed the restrictions on foreign travel on the actor.
