Plane tyres burst in Goa

Mumbai, Sept. 6: The two front tyres of an Air India flight from Kuwait, with 105 passengers on board, burst after landing at Goa airport this morning. No one was injured.
The Airbus 320 Kuwait-Goa-Chennai flight landed at 7.53am.
According to an Air India spokesperson, the nose-wheel landing deflated and the aircraft was taken to the taxiway by the pilot immediately.

“Both the landing tyres burst during landing but there were no casualties reported. It did not block the main runway and did not affect flight operations at the airport,” the spokesperson said.
The passengers were taken to the terminal and alternative arrangements made for those who were to fly on to Chennai.
In the past couple of weeks, there have been several mishaps at airports across the country. Last week, an aircraft skidded off the runway in Kochi, injuring seven. The main runway of Mumbai airport was shut for three days after a Turkish Airways plane skidded off the taxiway and got stuck in the mud on Friday morning.
Today, runway lights at the Pune airport did not operate for over two hours, causing flight delays.
According to an Airports Authority of India official, the Indian Air Force, which operates the airport, informed around 4.30pm that flight operations were suspended because there was no power supply on the runway.
“We were informed around 4.30 in the evening that flights have been suspended. Lights at the runway were restored again around 7pm, after which an Air India flight has boarded and is ready to depart,” the official said.
Visibility at the airport also remained low because of heavy rainfall in the city, the official said. Many inter-city flights were suspended during the shutdown.
Two Jet Airways flights were suspended, the airline officials said.
