BJP cool to graft charges on BSY

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa can enjoy his vacation in Mauritius for a few more days, as the BJP high command is in no hurry to take action against him in the wake of the leaked report, wherein Lokayukta Santosh Hegde has indicted him.
Apparently no senior BJP leader appeared surprised by the leaked report. “It’s not a new disclosure, the matter is already in the High Court,” stated a senior BJP leader.

“Let us wait for the Lokayukta’s report. Only then we will give a comprehensive response,” stated BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.
Given the political stature of Yeddyurappa, who is a leader in his own right having proved himself umpteen number of times, it will be difficult for the high command to take action against him, unless the strictures passed against him are ‘very serious’ in nature.
Sources revealed that if the indictment is ‘general’ in nature, as revealed by the leaked reports where the CM is indicted for having caused a loss of `1,800 crore to the state exchequer, there may not be any action. The recommendation of a probe leading to the financial loss will be investigated, though there will be no threat to the CM’s continuance in office.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari is returning from London on Friday and if necessary, meetings are likely to take place in the capital. Yeddyurappa is slated to return only on Monday.
Given the tone and tenor of the defence put up by Javadekar, it was apparent the party does not find itself in trouble and is ready to face the onslaught of the Congress- led Opposition, which raised its decibel levels to demand the CM’s removal.
According to sources, despite Hegde claiming that there is “substantive” evidence against Yeddyurappa, it will be left to the CM himself to decide his next course of action.
