A former Member of Parliament and three MLAs of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were booked by the Delhi Police for allegedly beating up an official at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan here on Thursday.
According to the police, senior TRS leader Harish Rao stormed into the Bhavan around 1.30 p.m., grabbed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Chander Rao and slapped him. He was apparently upset at the official showing “disrespect” to the body of Mandadi Adhi Reddy, who had committed suicide in the capital on Wednesday in support of a separate State of Telangana.
The official had written to the police asking them not to bring Mr. Reddy's body to the Bhavan, sources said.
The official later complained to the police against Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, E. Rajendra (all MLAs) and former MP, Vinod Kumar. A case was registered under Section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public function) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code at the Tilak Marg police station.
The four had come to the capital following the news of Reddy's suicide and were staying in the guest house at the Bhavan. They left for Andhra Pradesh later.
