The British actress, who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series, told The Virginian-Pilot newspaper that she will remain enrolled at Brown though she’ll study at Oxford University in the fall. The 21-year-old Watson left Brown earlier this year, saying she wanted to devote her time to the final Harry Potter film and other acting opportunities.
The final chapter in the series premiered last week, setting box office records. It took in an estimated $168.6 million in the US from Friday to Sunday. That beats the previous best opening weekend of $158.4 million for 2008’s Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight.
Martial nights: An action film from Wong Kar-wai? Well, that’s exactly what’s happening with The Grandmasters. The film was rumoured to debut at Cannes 2011, but it now looks set to arrive at Cannes 2012. With fresh backing from Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures, The Grandmasters should wrap up filming later this year and be edited to the last minute before reels are shipped to Cannes next year. The trailer sees Wong Kar-wai favourite Tony Leung as the white-hatted hero facing a courtyard full of adversaries as rain falls and water splashes in super slo-mo. Yuen Wo Ping handles the action of the film that also stars Zhang Ziyi.
