For over 300 students from various schools of the city, it was a brush with reality after they got an opportunity to see how a liver becomes ‘fatty’ due to consumption of junk food.
They vowed not to eat unhealthy food after they saw a fatty liver on display at the Zakir Hall placed alongside a normal healthy liver as a part of the fourth annual workshop organised by the Department of Anatomy, PGIMER.
That was not all, a pair of smoker’s lungs, which had turned black, were placed alongside the healthy ones elicited a good response from the students, mostly boys, who vowed never to touch cigarettes.
Prof Daisy Sahni, head of the Anatomy department, PGI, said, “Besides these, all the students took three pledges: To apply whatever they learnt today, to share what they learnt today with at least one person and to plant a tree. It was very motivating to see children come up on stage admitting their addiction to junk food and then promising to shun the habit.”
