Mothers in Britain Spend 70 Hours a Week in Performing Household Jobs: Study



A research revealed that women, who were also mothers, spend 70 hours every week in performing household jobs. A study conducted by researchers calculated the time spent by 3,000 women in performing household duties like cleaning, cooking, helping children in their studies and also performing bedtime services.


The results of the research revealed that on average, a woman could earn £37,000 if she was paid for such household activities and it covered all the important jobs .The study also revealed that the women who performed all these activities every day slept only 6 hours at night and 83%women revealed that they did not get even an hour to spend on themselves, because of such a busy schedule. The contentment with this kind of lifestyle was found to be in one out six women performing household duties.
As per the observations of the study, the maximum time taking task for women was cleaning the house and cooking, each took one hour and nine minutes a day on average. As per the recordings of the research, the mothers invested 63 minutes in looking after their children and 61 minutes washing dirty clothes. Then there’s 55 minutes invested in getting children ready for school or nursery, 53 minutes spent putting them to bed and 47 minutes devoted in helping children with homework.
