Bets cross Rs. 200 crore for Sachin's 100 at Lord's

New Delhi:
The ongoing Lord's Test has bookies in a frenzy. Not only is this the 2000th Test, but this match could also see Sachin Tendulkar score his 100th international century, a fact not lost on those involved in betting.

According to media reports, bets worth Rs. 200 crore have been placed on Sachin getting his 100th hundred at Lord's...with bookies praying that rain doesn't spoil play, like it did on Day 1.

The focus it seems is not so much on an India win as on Sachin reaching the historic landmark.

This could well be Sachin's last outing at the Lord's Cricket Ground and his last chance to correct possibly the only poor record he has. Compared to his career average of 56.94, Sachin averages just 21.28 in four Tests here, with 37 being his highest score. On sheer statistics, Sachin has never played these many matches at any other venue without scoring at least a half-century.

If Sachin does get there, Christmas would have come early - for those who bet on the master blaster, and the other millions of fans just waiting for another stellar record.
